Ungyeong — Korean traditional accessories made in Korea

Part of the jinjja.shop maker guides — one page for each independent Korean brand on the marketplace. Last updated 7 October 2026.

What is Ungyeong?

Ungyeong (운경잡화점) is a Korean accessories brand that draws on the materials, patterns and objects of traditional Korean dress. Its pieces include norigae charms, gat key rings, saekdong bags, and hair accessories printed with traditional Korean patterns.

Every piece is made in Korea and produced in-house by Ungyeong. The brand is stocked in Australia through jinjja.shop, an Australian marketplace for independent, owner-run Korean brands.

How is Ungyeong made?

Ungyeong works with materials and techniques associated with traditional Korean dress. The norigae charm uses hand-tied Korean maedeup knotwork — a traditional form of decorative knotting — combined with imitation jade (not natural jade). The gat key rings are built on plated metal frames, with the Mini Gat set with mother-of-pearl and the King’s Gat key ring using two-tone acrylic beads and a tassel to reinterpret the royal chin cord and sejodae. Saekdong fabric — the multi-coloured striped cloth of traditional Korean formal dress — is used for the tote and the nubi (quilted) drawstring bag. The hair scrunchie and dang-gi scarf are cotton printed using DTP (direct-to-print) with traditional Korean patterns.

What traditional references does Ungyeong draw on?

  • Norigae — an ornamental pendant traditionally hung from a hanbok jacket.
  • Gat — the horsehair hat worn in the Joseon dynasty. The King’s Gat is modelled on the version worn by Joseon kings when travelling in disguise; the Mini Gat is a scaled-down version of the everyday form.
  • Saekdong — the multi-coloured striped fabric of traditional Korean dress, used here for a tote and a quilted drawstring bag.
  • Dang-gi — the long ribbon traditionally tied into Korean braided hair, here also usable as a slim scarf or bag-handle wrap.
  • Maedeup — traditional Korean decorative knotwork, used in the norigae charm.
